Players at the Photo Co-op (UK)

Here’s another fun cabinet card from the UK.  The words “Photo Co-op” are printed below the photo in the lower left corner.  I didn’t find any reference online to a studio by that name, and the card has no other information on it.

The photographer added tiny spots of ink to the eyes of the young men standing in back, and possibly the others, to make them appear more life-like.  That was a relatively common trick, but it can be disconcerting when obvious, especially when expanded on a computer screen.

The costumes are elaborate and beautifully constructed, which leads me to think these young people were actors in a play.  It’s also possible they were dressed up for a festival or other special event.
