In December 1934 the people in this room were on a cruise on the Holland-America Line’s S.S. Rotterdam IV (1908-1940). I have several photos which once belonged to the dark-haired couple sitting in the back of the room. He has his left arm around her and a glass raised in his right hand. Their identities are a mystery.
Information about the cruise is elusive, but New Year’s celebrations were evidently an important part of it.

Great photo! The guy in the “comedy” hat must’ve thought himself the cruise comedian. Maybe he was? 🙄😖
